Wagler attended Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kansas, where he earned four-star recruit status and caught the attention of numerous Division I programs.
He ultimately committed to Illinois, turning down offers from schools including DePaul, Saint Louis, Colorado State, and Tulsa.
